26Apr2015 - Storm has strong showing in first Showcase

Congratulations to the 17u team for their strong showing in their first NCAA Certified event of the year. The team finished with two consecutive wins and a 2-1 record in bracket play at the Southern Exposure Showcase in Augusta, Ga.  After dropping a close game in the first round of brackets, the team went on to a 20pt and 30+ point win to close out the event. The team's next event is the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions in Atlanta. 

02Oct2014 - Storm Players receive National recognition

Three Storm players were listed as "top performers" at the annual Bob Gibbons evaluation clinic held in Hendersonville, NC on Sept 20-21, 2014. 

Congratulations to Cameron Caldwell (Davidson Day) for his "top senior" designation and also to Fred Sanders (Mallard Creek) and Myles McGregor (Davidson Day) for being rated as "top juniors" in the event.

Bob Gibbons has long been the nation’s most respected, and the Number One-rated high school basketball talent evaluator. He is a senior member of the selection committee for the McDonald's All-American Game; is a top advisor for several national all-star games; and does player ratings for numerous publications, including his own highly acclaimed All Star Scouting Service for colleges.  See the full report at

14Jul2014 - Storm 16s and 17s perform well at AAU Nationals

Congratulations to the 11th grade team for their 5th place finish at AAU D2 Nationals held July 9th – 13th at The Big House in Tavares, FL.

Congratulations also to our 10th grade team that played tremendous basketball and finished 13th overall despite being down 2 key players who could not make the trip.

Special thanks to the entire H.S. coaching staff and our wonderful and supportive parents that made this possible.

16s and 17s play in their first NCAA "live" event of the season this weekend in Future150 at Carolina Courts - Indian Trail. Time to go to work!  Full Schedule

23Apr2014 - Busy weekend for the Club

 6th and 7th grade teams play in the NCAAU D3 State tournament.  9th Grade team in the USBA Tournament of Champions.  8th grade team is idle while 10th and 11th graders are in their first NCAA "live" event of the season.

07Apr2014 - Storm 16s and 17s pickup some hardware

Congratulations to the 16s for the capturing the title in the Carolina Hoop It Up tournament in Charlotte.  Older brothers (17s) played well in their first event of the season, making it to the championship game playing up in the 12th grade division.  Great job guys!

Tony Brown posthumously named Southern Piedmont 1A Conference "Coach of the Year" for leading Community School of Davidson to a 4th place finish and berth in the NCHSAA 1A State Playoffs. Congratulations Tony and Assistant Coaches Jackie Drakeford and Rich Hall for a job well done!

A gathering to celebrate Anthony’s life will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 9:00 -10:30 a.m. at Northside Baptist Church located at 333 Jeremiah Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28262. The service begins at 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial services will be held at Gethsemane Cemetery and Memorial Gardens located at 1504 W. Sugar Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28262.

Dear Storm family, it is with great sorrow we share news of the passing of the heart and soul of our organization - Tony Brown - who died suddenly this morning at his home. Tony was a great friend and supporter of so many people. Words can not express our loss. We hope to continue his work and passion for people. Our prayers are with his family, dear wife Melody and sons Richard and Robert.

Storm Fall League team tryouts with be held at Community School of Davidson, Sat., Aug 24th and 31st from 10am to 1pm. CSD High School Gym - 404 Armour St. Davidson, NC. 

From I-77 North, take Exit 30 onto Griffith St towards Davidson. Continue straight through two traffic circles. At light take left onto Beaty Rd. Take 5th left onto Armour St. Turn right into CSD Gym parking lot, just after open area of construction. Same building as River's Edge Church.

29Jul2013 - Tony Brown named head coach at Community School of Davidson

Congratulations to 17u Coach Tony Brown for being named the Head Coach at Community School of Davidson. Coach Brown previously held the JV Head/Asst. Varsity position at Davidson Day school.

He will be joined at CSD by long time Storm assistants Jackie Drakeford (Davidson Day) and Richard Hall (Piedmont Open) in running the entire CSD basketball program.

28Jul2013 - Battle of the Best NCAA Showcase (Update)

17s fall in the semis and finish the "Battle of the Best" Summer Showcase with a 6-1 record and a NCAA Certified Event schedule record of 14-5. Great job guys!

17s extended last minute invitation to the "Battle of the Best" showcase in Charlotte and go 4-0 in Pool Play to extend their NCAA Certified Event record to 12-4. 

22Jul2013 - Nationals/Showcase Update

Another AAU season has come to a close and the Club experienced more success. 

The 15u/9th grade team underachieved at USBA Nationals with a first round exit in brackets, but put up a bunch of victories in route to a 6th place national ranking with USBA and a 10th Grade D2 bid to the AAU National Championships.

The 17u/11th grade finished the elite NCAA certified event circuit with an 8-4 mark, going 3-1 at Big Shots Clemson with a Championship game appearance, 3-1 at the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions (TOC) in Atlanta and 2-2 record and overall 2nd place Pool finish at the AAU Super Showcase in Orlando.  Hopefully their strong showing will pay off with some scholarship offers for the players!

05Jun2013 - 9th Grade Team earns bid to 10th Grade D2 AAu Nationals

Congratulations to the 15/u 9th grade team for playing "up" and earning a bid to the 2013 AAU 10th Grade D2 National Championship tournament. The team finished 9th in the NCAAU 10th Grade D2 State tournament.  Great job guys! 

They join the 17u/11th grade team which earned a bid to the AAU D1 National Championship in Orlando, FL.

03May2013 - Good weekend for the Storm!

17s go 3-1 at Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions in Atlanta, GA. Good showing in front of college coaches in their 2nd NCAA Certified event. 15s go 4-1 in USBA event, including two 30 point blowout wins and an appearance in the Championship game.

22Apr2013 - 17s make Championship appearance at Big Shots Clemson

Congratulations go out to the 17u team for their championship game appearance in the NCAA certified "Big Shots - Clemson" tournament. The team finished 3-1, losing by 1 in the title game.

22Mar2013 - STORM GAMES TO BE BROADCAST ON AAUTV!

In a first for the Club, both the 10th and 11th Grade travel teams will have their games from the Charlotte Super Regional broadcast live on AAU TV!  The 17s will be appearing in the AAU Super Regional Championship game!

06May2012 - TWICE AS NICE!!!

Great weekend for the Storm as the Club claims its 12th and 13th State Titles respectively in the NCAAU District Championship held May 4-6 at Carolina Courts in Indian Trail, NC.

The 19u team went undefeated in winning the 19u/12th Grade D1 District Championship. The 17u team, pictured below, followed with a dominating win in the 17u/11th Grade D2 Championship game.

The 19u/Seniors team finished the tournament with two exhibition victories against teams of former collegiate players. The 17u/Juniors team also finished Bracket play undefeated in route to its title.

These are the first Boys AAU State Titles after 2 State Runner-Up and 2 Top four finishes since the Club was formed in 2004 and brings the overall State championship total to 13. Both teams earned a bid to the AAU National Championships in FL.

29Apr2012 - TOURNAMENT CHAMPS

Congratulations to the 15u team as they took their first championship of the season in the USSSA Charlotte Shootout last weekend. The team went undefeated in route to the title.

In AAU D2 play, the team finished the State tournament with a 3-3 mark, falling in the quarter-finals after a 40+ point win in the first game of bracket play during the District Championship round. The team earned a birth to the AAU D2 National Championship tournament in July.

10Aug2011 - NATIONALS/SHOWCASE UPDATE

17s end AAU D-1 National Championship tournament with an appearance in the Elite 8 of the National Classic bracket and a 5-3 mark in the tournament, with an overall AAU record of 9-5 against the best competition in the country! Finished the July exposure and evaluation period with a 16-7 record against elite teams and a Silver bracket quarter-final appearance at the AAU Super Showcase. Great job guys!



16s make it to the semi-finals of the Copper bracket at the AAU Super Showcase in the Disney WWS complex in Lake Buena Vista, FL, finishing with an overall 3-4 record against elite, national competition.

20Mar2011 - 17s TAKE AAU SUPER REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

The Boys 17u Gold team went undefeated in capturing the championship with a 92-89 victory over Team Charlotte in the 2011 AAU Super Regional held March 18-20 at Carolina Courts in Indian Trail, NC, earning a bid to the 2011 AAU D1 National Championship in Lake Buena Vista, FL in July.

The Boys 15u team also did well finishing in the Top 4 and earning a bid to the 2011 AAU D2 National Championship tournament.  Great job guys.

25Jul2010 - 16s MAKE AAU SUPER SHOWCASE BRONZE BRACKET TITLE GAME

The Boys 16u Gold team made it to the championship game of the Bronze bracket at the AAU Super Showcase in Lake Buena Vista, FL, losing by 3 to All Ohio.  The team medaled for the 2nd year in a row, finished with a tournament record of 5-3 and an overall record of 36-10.

Congratulations to the Boys 16u Gold team in claming the Silver bracket Championship in the Hoop Group West Va. Jam Fest Showcase in Morgantown, WVa. Team finished the tournament 6-1 to claim the title in a field of 84 teams from the U.S. and Canada.

09May2010 - STRONG WEEKEND FOR STORM.  16U TEAMS ADVANCE IN AAU PLAY

Both 16u teams had good showings over the weekend.  The Black team finished 2nd in AAU D2 Pools and advanced to next weekend's State Championship bracket.   The Gold team knocked off the defending D1 State champs in route to a 3rd place overall finish in the AAU D1 State Championship tournament, while qualifying for Nationals.

The 13u Boys finished the weekend 3-1 with a semifinal appearance in the USBA Sun Belt Rentals tournament.

02Mar2010 - CLUB RECEIVES INVITATION TO PLAY IN AAU SUPER SHOWCASE

Boys 15u, 16u and 17u teams receive an invitation to the 2010 AAU Super Showcase at Disney WWS Complex for the fourth consecutive year.

 

15s FINISH 2ND IN BRONZE BRACKET AT AAU SUPER SHOWCASE

Congratulations to 15u Gold team on their medal and runner-up finish in the Bronze bracket of the AAU 15u Super Showcase held July 20-23 at the Disney WWS Complex.  The team completed the tournament with an overall 5-3 record.  Great job guys.

15s FINISH 3RD AT USBA NATIONALS

Congratulations to members of the 15u Black and Gold teams which combined to make a deep run before losing in the semis of the USBA National Championship in Myrtle Beach, SC.  The team finished 6-1 while averaging double digit wins.  Great job guys.

15s and 17s HAVE GOOD SHOWING AT HOOPGROUP WVA JAMFEST

WVa Hoopfest Update - 15s tied for first but were relegated to 3rd place in Pool and consolation bracket due to point differential.  17s (DC) were 2.3 secs and 1 point away from a Silver bracket appearance. Two missed FTs changed the entire course of the tournament. Battled hard against DC Assault and were within single digits late in the game, only to run out of gas.

Congratulations to members of the 15u Gold and Black teams which combined to grab some additional hardware, winning the championship of the "Queen City Classic".

16u TEAM ADVANCES TO AAU D-1 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND

Congratulations to the 16u Gold team which finished 2-1 in Pool Play and advances to the D1 State Championship tournament in Mt. Airy following an overall 9th place finish in the 17u D2 State tournament.

CLUB PLACES 4 TEAMS IN HIGH SCHOOL DIVISION IN AAU NATIONALS

Congratulations to the 15u Gold (7th-D1), 16s (9th-17uD2), 17u Gold (8th-D1)and Black (8th-D2) teams for qualifying for AAU Nationals.  Each team finished in the top 10 in the State tournament with the 16s playing up in the 17u D2 division.

17U GOLD TEAM FINISHES IN ELITE 8 IN NCAAU D-1 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNEY

After a slow start in Pool Play last week, the 17u Gold team rallied to make it to the Elite 8 of the AAU D1 17u State Championship tourney, losing in OT to prevent a possible Top 5 finish.  They were joined in the State Championship round by the 17u Black and 16u Gold teams which advanced to 17u D2 States and the 15u and 13u Gold teams which also advanced to their state tournaments respectively.

Congratulations to the Boys 13u Black team for claiming 1st place in the USSSA Spring Shootout.  It was their first tournament of the season and first piece of hardware.  Way to go guys!

STORM TEAMS ADVANCE TO AAU STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNEY

Boys 15u Gold, 16u Gold, 17u Black and 17u Gold teams all advance out of AAU Pool Play to content for a state title.  The 15u Gold and 17u Gold teams advance in D1, the 17u Black team in D2, accompanied by the 16u Gold team which played "up" and qualified for 17u D2 as well.

17U AND 15U TRAVEL TEAMS PLAY WELL AT RIVERFEST CLASSIC

Congratulations to the Boys 17u and 15u Gold teams for their weekend performance at the 12th annual Riverfest Classic in Columbus, Ga.  The 17u team finished 2nd in their pool and made it to the quarter-finals, falling to eventual champion Ga Stars.  The 15s won their pool by going undefeated, but fell short in the semi-finals.

In the first tourney for both teams this season, the 13u Gold and 14u Black teams place in the Comfort Suites Invitational in Gastonia, NC and brought home some additional hardware.

BOYS 15U TEAMS START SEASON ON WINNING NOTE

Congratulations to the Boys 15u Gold and Black teams for taking 1st and 2nd place respectively in weekend tourneys.  The Gold team went undefeated playing up in the 16u division of the USSSA March Madness tournament with the Black team taking 2nd place in the USBA Carolina Courts Invitational.  Gold team member Ivan Lowe was named tournament MVP.

SPARQ RATINGS RELEASED

33 players were tested during the NIKE SPARQ certification during tryouts.  Congratulations to 17u Purple team member Jeff Felton leading the pack with a 69.08 score and 16u Guard Brandon Glenn finishing second with 62.40.  Jeff blew away the field with a 33.50 vertical.

SPARQ stands for Speed, Power, Agility, Reaction and Quickness, five of the essential tools for superior athletic performance.  SPARQ Training is the dynamic training method that incorporates the five testing components of the SPARQ Basketball Rating.  The SPARQ Rating is a numeric value that gauges overall athletic ability and is used by coaches and trainers around the nation as an initial indicator of an athlete's potential on the court.

LITTLE BROTHERS AWARDED AUTOMATIC BID TO AAU NATIONALS

Based on the Club's 2008 Nationals performance, AAU as extended an automatic bid to the 2009 D2 National Championship in Cocoa Beach, FL.  2nd year in a row the Club has medaled at AAU Nationals.

BIG BROTHERS ALSO INVITED TO ELITE AAU EVENT

17u and 16u Boys were extended a bid to 2009 AAU Super Showcase event at Disney WWS Complex in July and will join the 15u team in this event.  Bid marks 3rd year in a row Club has received an invitation.

AAU SUPER SHOWCASE EVENT

Boys 15u Gold team receives invitation to 2009 AAU Super Showcase at Disney WWS Complex for top 48 Clubs in the nation.

CLUB SELECTED TO HOST AAU STATE PLAYOFFS

The Storm will be the host for the 2009 AAU 17u D1 and D2 Pool Play event in Charlotte.

Zeb Richardson (Ashe County High) for being named MVP of the Mountain Valley conference and being named to the roster of the NC/SC All-Star Basketball Classic in Myrtle Beach.

Bradley Robinson and Dominique Henderson (Mallard Creek) for being named to the Charlotte Observer's I-Meck 4A All-conference team as first team and second team selections respectively.

Hampton Signee Dionte Adams (Northside Christian) for being named to the NCISAA 2A All-State team and for leading his team to the 2A State Title.

Radford Signee Rashun Davis (Davidson Day) for also being named to the NCISAA 2A All-State team and for leading his team to the Championship game.  Rashun was also named to the regional roster of the Jordan Brand Classic to be held in Charlotte in April.

Congratulations to current 17u Storm team members Dionte Adams (Northside Christian) and Jalen White (Butler), who join former Storm player Aaron Roundtree (Beddingfield) in receiving invitations to the 2011 Carolina Challenge hosted by Scout.com and ESPN Recruiting Analyst Dave Telep.  Adams and White are new additions. year with Roundtree returning for his second year.

Congratulations to 2010 16u team members Rashun Davis of Davidson Day and Hans Brase of Gaston Day for being named as first team selections to the Southern Piedmont Athletic Association (SPAA) All-Conference team and Griffin Pittman and Dionte Adams of Queens Grant for their first team Piedmont Athletic Association All-Conference selections.  Pittman was also named to the NC Prep Phenom Top 50 as one of the top juniors in the State.

High Point University has looked at Rashun Davis, with Davidson showing interest in Hans Brase, while Rutgers is focusing in on Gabe Mercer. 

More post-season honors for Storm players

Alexander Wiley (Clover) was named to the 4A All-State team by the South Carolina Coaches Association.  He also played in the South Carolina North-South senior all-star basketball game, lead his team to the state semi-finals and was named to the all 3-AAAA region team.

Dillion Dunford (Smoky Mountain) was named to the Western Athletic 2-A all conference team while Colton Hunt (Smoky Mountain) was named Western Athletic 2-A conference player of the year.

Storm players receive post-season honors

2007 AAU Super Showcase team member Odell Turner (Myers Park) was named Southwestern 4A Conference Player of the Year.   Congratulations Odell.

Boys 17u SG Thomas Cooper (Mallard Creek) and 2008 17u SF Quay Fewell (West Charlotte) were named to the 2008-09 ME-CA 7 4-A All-Conference team.   Cooper was also a 2nd team choice for the ME-CA 7 4-A all-conference team by the Charlotte Observer.  

East Lincoln star signs with UNC-Wilmington

Storm 16u and 17u player Keith Rendleman signed with the Seahawks of UNC-Wilmington to play in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) next season.  Good luck Keith.
